How to get involved in the music industry as a high school student?

Music is my thing, and I know that I want to pursue it as a career. My ideal job would be to work as a music rep, getting the name of an up and coming artist out to the world for a major record label or to work at Rolling Stone. I'm going to be a senior in high school, so I cant exactly work as an intern, since they want college kids. I've been looking at summer programs at colleges like NYU, but its too late to apply and my only free time is in August. Help, please?!?!?
